about
My most personal song. I had two accidental kundalini awakenings—the feeling of electric waves going up my torso, while lying in bed thinking about where musical ideas come from. That moment when suddenly there's a new melody in your head that wasn't there before.
I didn't know what it was and majorly freaked out when I found out it was an Eastern mystical phenomenon. (A friend experiences them during deep practices of Buddhist meditation.)
Later, after freaking out, I was woken up by a vision of luminescence from above my bed that bathed me in what I can only describe as the warmth of pure love.
The light only lasted a few seconds, but I see them as the most important seconds of my life.
However, I didn't know what was happening and was actually disturbed and traumatized by the whole experience for years.
I struggled with whether to put it into a song, but ultimately decided that I'm a songwriter, that's what I do. I write about whatever comes to mind, and this was always on my mind.
lyrics
When I sleepily asked where thoughts and ideas come from
Waves electric danced up my tummy and gave me some.
There was a light.
There was lovely light
But I’ll never know if it was all in my mind
Or was it a light.
I get sad when I think of arrogant things I said.
I get scared that I was awakened in my ward bed.
There was a light.
There was lovely light
But I’ll never know if it was all in my mind
Or was it a light.
Warm vibrations fell on my chest from the soft white light.
I sensed someone was telling me I would be all right.
There was a light.
There was lovely light
But I’ll never know if it was all in my mind
Or was it a light.
I am fortunate for my friends and my family.
They were there for me; they’re still there for me, faithfully.
There was a light.
There was lovely light
But I’ll never know if it was all in my mind
Or was it a light.
I get scared when I think of what I am capable of.
Is she cruelty, or indifference, or is she Love?
Thank you my God.
Thank you my Holy God.
But I’ll never know if it was all in my mind
Or was it a light.
One of my best friends, one spectacular songwriter, one of my favorite albums. It's a joy to have one of my favorite albums also be made by one of my best friends. Stephen Bluhm
Well, I just love when wonderful people I know also happen to make wonderful music I know. I'd love this album anyway, but knowing Trevor personally and that he's a special guy makes it even better. Stephen Bluhm
